Facilities

Camp is located in the rolling hills of Southern Illinois at the SIU Touch of Nature, Camp I, nine miles southeast of Carbondale, IL.  It is bordered by numerous lakes, acres of national forests, and Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge.

Camp Ben Frankel’s facilities include rustic fan cooled and air conditioned cabins for campers and staff, a large dining hall with a modern and kosher kitchen, an air conditioned infirmary, and arts and crafts pavilion.   At the lake, you can find a fleet of sailboats, canoes, and “fun yak” boats.  There are three cabin groups, each with its own centrally located washroom and facilities.  This past year, three brand new centrally air conditioned cabins were added to camp.

Camp Ben Frankel also has on its grounds several sports fields.  Our well maintained multipurpose field is used for soccer, ultimate Frisbee, baseball and many more activities.  Situated next to the fields is an asphalt court, which is used for tennis, basketball, street hockey, presentations, and more.
